HOW IT WORKS

This organization is critical because the communities need an environment that embraces subject matters not discussed in the classroom. By providing an outlet through book clubs, we can reach individuals centered around one common denominator… a book! The book will drive the dialogue and provoke positive problem-solving skills, a necessary skill set needed in everyday life.
The discussions have been outlined by a retired elementary school teacher to ensure we are conducting conversations educationally. Utilizing a teacher is beneficial to the members because we have included structure within the conversations to foster effective dialogue. The "Experience" is a ten-month book club consisting of ten members at a time. The organization supplies the materials and will meet with members twice a month. After completing the "Experience," each member will be gifted a kindle to continue their reading journey.

Some additional plans for this organization include:
Ladies FirstThis concept is an opportunity for us to collaborate with the communities we serve by starting a book club with the first ladies of the cities to promote empowerment in our communities. |
Read & RelaxThis concept incorporates additional activities into the book club meetings to help with member engagement and retention. An example activity would be participants building a "bookshelf" for their books out of cardboard. |
The Experience ContinuesThis concept connects with the senior citizens of the communities and promotes reading as a pastime alternative. |
